There was a time that Islam Feruz was near the top of the list of most promising prospects in the Chelsea Academy. Injuries, subpar performances, and even worse loan spells later, Feruz has come close to washing out completely. He's going to try to prevent that by going back to where it all started, sort of.
Hibs have completed the signing of Islam Feruz from Chelsea on a season long loan deal. Welcome to #Hibs @24feruz! pic.twitter.com/0UVP8bMHyk

Feruz's football career began with Celtic as a 10-year-old, before heading south to London in 2011 at the of 16. Reaction to that move was not without bitterness, which could explain why he's opted for a different Scottish team on loan than the club, which originally discovered him. Of course, it could just be as simple Feruz not being anywhere near ready even for the Scottish Premier League.
Hibernian came close to getting promoted from the Scottish Championship last season, losing in the promotion playoffs to Rangers, who then went on to lose to Motherwell. Rangers should be favorites to gain automatic promotion, but Hibs should be in the playoff reckoning once again. Hopefully Feruz, who will turn 20 in about a week, can play a decent part in that push.
Good luck!
