ARE YOU NOT ENTERTAINED?!

Unfortunately, it was Oscar who was chosen to make way for our substitute goalkeeper after Courtois got his (probably justified) red card.

It would appear that Oscar is off to yet another scintillating start to a season.  He was head and shoulders above everyone else in terms of attacking impetus, influence, and quality in the second half.  Hopefully, with a full summer's worth of rest behind him for the first time since the dawn of man, he'll continue to show such great form all the way through the season.

After the slight debacle that was his preseason debut, I doubt many of us expected Begović to make his official Chelsea debut so soon ... and even fewer of us expected that it would go so well ... and even fewer of us expected that it would go better than Petr Čech's first Premier League outing for Arsenal.  HA-HA.  And HA-HA, again.

Schadenfreude aside, Begović's solid debut shouldn't be that surprising, given his previous five seasons at Stoke.  We're going to need all that experience this coming weekend at Manchester City — incidentally, he collected all three points with Stoke there last season, one of only two teams to do so.

Two rated games so far, two top three finishes for the man who ended last season in great form and seem to have been the only one to carry that over to the new season.

While it is often his dallying on the ball that gets noticed — and he did that several times in this one, too — and he played Gomis onside for the red card and the penalty kick, his cutbacks from the right also posed constant danger.  Or would have, if anybody on our team would've been willing to make a near-post run or pull the trigger from the top of the box when presented with the opportunity.

OTHERS:
Courtois (5.5), Azpilicueta (6.2), Terry (5.9), Cahill (5.9), Ivanović (3.9), Matić (6.2), Fàbregas (5.2), Hazard (6.6), Costa (6.6)

SUBS:
Begović (7.2), Zouma (6.1), Falcao (5.6)
