Report: Baba Rahaman to Chelsea announcement is 'imminent'

After Saturday's dismal showing from Chelsea's starting fullbacks, most fans are hoping to see the signing of a replacement for the departed FIlipe Luis come sooner, as opposed to later. If German newspaper Bild is to be believed, that announcement is 'imminent'.

There were reports on Saturday that the Blues' latest offering for Rahman had been rejected, though if Bild is to be believed (and they're generally pretty reliable), it doesn't sound like the remaining details were as serious as The Guardian was leading us to believe. That's probably a good thing, as Chelsea are pretty thin behind Branislav Ivanovic and Cesar Azpilicueta at the moment, and the schedule will get congested in fairly short order.

Given the reports that Chelsea already had agreed to personal terms with the player, there was probably very little doubt that a deal was going to get done. After all, FC Augsburg would have no reason to allow the player to negotiate with his future club if a deal wasn't close, and we've heard reports of those negotiations succeeding about a week ago. It will be nice to get the deal done as soon as possible, however, so that the player can get settled in London.
