Chelsea knocked back in Baba Rahman pursuit

The following is somehow quite appropriate for the Saturday that has been.

Augsburg have rejected Chelsea's €25m bid for Baba Rahman, with the German side holding out for €30m.

The Guardian go on to confirm earlier reports that we have indeed agreed personal terms with the 21-year-old left back, but since Augsburg are in no hurry to sell — Rahman played in their Cup match on Friday, for example — we're going to have to do some intense negotiating over the selling price.  Plus, they may have just finished watching our match against Swansea City and realized that now is an excellent time to press Chelsea for more money over a new full back.

That's a small joke of course.  The Guardian's report basically matches the sticking point mentioned in the last update we heard on Rahman's transfer.  Regardless, we need a full back and Rahman's the only one still seriously in play, so ... whatever it takes, I suppose.  Let's get it done.  Open the coffers, get the cash, make it rain.
