Official: Solanke heads out on loan

What Peter Bosz wants, Peter Bosz gets. At least in this case. We saw earlier that Chelsea academy striker Dom Solanke was training with Vitesse Arnhem, and now the Blues have confirmed that the 17-year-old will be spending the year in the Eredivisie on a season-long loan. Solanke joins up with Lewis Baker, Nathan and Izzy Brown as Chelsea's current representatives at Vitesse, and gives the club an exciting English-heavy look as they head into next season.

This is obviously a big move for Solanke, who until this point had only gotten significant playing time with Chelsea's youth teams. Although the Eredivisie isn't of an enormously high standard, it's still challenging enough to seriously test any young player thrown its way, and if Solanke can navigate top-flight football in the Netherlands he'll have made an enormous step forward in his development. With Vitesse low on strikers, he should get every chance to prove that he has what it takes to succeed for Chelsea in the long run.
