The surprise perhaps isn't that young Jeremie Boga is heading out on loan or that he's heading out on loan to a top flight club in a good league. We've been expecting this for a while now. It's that Rennes supposedly have an option to purchase the 18-year-old at the end of his season-long loan to the Ligue 1 side.

While the option is reported to be rather sizable, it is something that Rennes apparently insisted on. Surely, if they had no hope of paying it, they would not have done so.
Rennes say "Jeremie Boga is on loan with an option to buy". No word on how much that might cost them. #CFC #loanwatch

L'Equipe had previously reported that any option to buy would be 'very high', making it fairly unlikely Rennes could afford/would pay it.

Here's Boga and fellow new signing Juan Quintero taking their medicals and talking with Rennes' in-house video channel. Boga will wear #17. Good luck, Jeremie!
