Chelsea reportedly reach loan agreement for Jeremie Boga

With just days to go in the transfer window, Chelsea still have quite a few youngsters whose futures need to be sorted. According to the French outlet Mercato 365, one of those futures has been settled, and another loan deal will be announced shortly. 18-year old Jeremie Boga will reportedly join Ligue 1 club Rennes on a season-long loan deal. The youngster was also linked to a Rayo Vallecano loan deal a few days ago.

Boga's contract runs out in June 2017 but given Chelsea's recent policy of giving contract extensions to prospects heading out of the club on loan, we probably shouldn't worry much about losing such a promising player for a low transfer fee or even for free. Especially with a prospect as talented as Boga, we probably shouldn't worry too much about the contract situation, and expect an extension announcement along with the loan.

As for the chances of Boga getting significant playing time with Rennes this season, it all depends on whether they will be able to sign Yoann Gourcuff for free and FC Porto's Juan Quintero on a loan deal. Both veteran players could prove to be much of an stumbling block for Boga to rise to the starting line-up. This season, it looks like Rennes' manager Philippe Montanier has lined-up his team in a 3-4-3 at home games and in a 5-4-1 in away games, so Boga wouldn't see much time as a #10 but rather as a winger or as a wide midfielder if he manages to break into the first-team.
