Fullback signs new three-year contract with Chelsea

Chelsea have inked academy product Todd Kane to a new contract, the club announced on Monday. The fullback has put pen to paper on a deal that will see him remain part of the Blues setup for the next three seasons, until the end of the 2017/18 campaign.

Kane, now 21, was a key player at the U18 and U21 levels for Chelsea, and has since become a member of our ever-expanding loan army. He's yet to debut for Chelsea, but has had loan spells at all of Preston North End, Blackburn Rovers, Bristol City, and Nottingham Forest. His time at Blackburn was the most successful of the bunch, when he made 41 appearances, and scored two of his three career goals.

Now that Kane is under contract for the next three years, I'd expect to see him heading out on loan before the start of the 2015/16 season. Hopefully, he'll stay healthy, and see more time on the pitch than he did at Nottingham Forest last season.
