Despite not having the personal endorsement of Xabi Alonso as it turns out, the Baba Rahman rumors are rolling along at a steady pace. Chelsea and Roma remain the two teams mentioned most often in connection with the young left back, and while the initial stories were dismissed as "pure speculation," the player's agents and current club are now both talking as if the interest is real. That said, there is no hurry to sell the player and with Baba claiming he's happy at Augsburg and Augsburg hoping to keep the band together for another season, all the leverage is in their court.
The Ghana international's agent, Sascha Empacher, said: "There will be no hasty transfer."
Oliver Schlegl, another of Rahman's agents, added: "Baba feels comfortable at Augsburg. He does not have to make a move. He can very well stay at Augsburg for another year."
Augsburg's sporting director Stefan Reuter said: "Of course we are talking about Baba but there is nothing concrete at the moment. The player has not approached me to tell me he wants to leave.
"I hope to keep our squad together, at the moment I assume that Baba will stay."

Meanwhile, sources in Italy such as Gianluca Di Marzio are claiming that Roma are stepping up their efforts with personal envoys and such. They had been in the lead already for the 21-year-old's potential signature; meanwhile it remains unclear whether we've even made a bid at all (ESPN says no, Di Marzio says yes). Regardless, if we want in on this, it's time to get things moving.
