Things suddenly seem to be moving quickly for both Atlético Madrid and Chelsea regarding Brazilian fullback Filipe Luis' return to Vicente Calderón. An entire month had passed since Diego Simeone's comments regarding the player, about how he had hoped to have his old left back return to the club. But now, it seems that we are in fact edging closer to a definition regarding Filipe Luis' future.

"There are negotiations in place [for Filipe Luis] but I don't know how fruitful they will be. We would be delighted if he comes back and I think that in the end, we will find a solution. As always, the financial aspect takes precedence over the sentimental aspect but I believe a deal can be reached."

It is hard to envision Chelsea letting go of a squad player in a position as thin as fullback without having a replacement set to join the club. If anything, these quotes help add weight to the Baba Rahman rumours. Hopefully the club will manage to strike a deal with Augsburg soon, as I am sure no one is comfortable with having only Cesar Azpilicueta and Branislav Ivanovic as capable fullbacks in Chelsea's first-team squad.
