Chelsea weren't successful in their first attempt to sign England international John Stones away from Everton, but according to reports in Liverpool, that won't stop the Blues from chasing the Toffees' defender. The Liverpool Echo are reporting that the Blues could return with a new, improved offer for the 21-year old in the near future, though Everton have no intention of selling the center back.
For his part, Stones is saying all of the right things amid rumors of Chelsea interest, likely because he hasn't gotten 'the phone call' from manager Jose Mourinho yet:
"I am very happy to be at Everton for the future. My aim right now is to try and nail down a regular spot in this Everton team and hopefully that will take care of playing for England."
"I have to keep learning off the likes of Phil Jagielka and keep progressing at this club."
I'm sure more money and the opportunity to work with John Terry and Gary Cahill could change Stones' tune, but it's always nice to hear when players try to stay out of the spotlight. If Chelsea want him, though, they'll probably be able to convince him to come.
