Chelsea confirm Falcao's squad number

After a year of standing empty -- there's an obvious joke about Fernando Torres here though -- the Chelsea number 9 shirt will once again have an occupant this coming season.  On the plus side, the only way is up for this recently cursed number.

While Falcao has had plenty of success while wearing this number previously, the #9's recent history at Chelsea is anything but great.  Before Torres, the likes of Franco Di Santo, Mateja Kezman, Hernan Crespo, Steve Sidwell, and even defender Khalid Boulahrouz had it, each for just one season.  We have to go back over a decade to find positive vibes with Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink and Gianluca Vialli.  Even then, you never know when a surprise Chris Sutton will pop up.  Tony Cascarino (during one of his less successful stops in his career) and the lovely Mark Stein complete the shirt's Premier League history for Chelsea.

So now it's Falcao's turn to try to rehabilitate the shirt, and in turn, his career.  Good luck!
