Piazon: Staying at Chelsea would be "a waste of time"

Once one of Chelsea's most promising prospects, Brazillian forward Lucas Piazon has stumbled a bit in his development. After a very impressive Vitesse loan spell in the 2013-14 season, many expected him to take a step forward and maybe even get integrated into Chelsea's first-team squad. Piazon was sent out on loan again to Germany last season, and unfortunately, failed to impress while playing for Eintracht Frankfurt.

Piazon was called up this year to join Brazil's U23 squad to play in the Pan-American Games being held in Toronto. In an interview with ESPN Brasil, he spoke about his plans this season.

I don't want to stay there [at Chelsea]. It will be a waste of time being there, play one game every two weeks. I would rather leave and play all games this year.

The issue is that Piazon was a rotational player for Frankfurt last season, having started just 11 Bundesliga games for the club. That he wants to play week in and week out is only natural; but calling Chelsea a "waste of time" does not sound like a good thing coming from someone who has hardly done anything in his career to be handed a first-team spot at a top European club.

Piazon's contract runs out in 2017.
