Tomas Kalas agrees loan switch, will join new side for pre-season

One more Chelsea youngster has found his loan destination for this season. According to the Teesside Gazette, Middlesbrough and Tomas Kalas have reached an agreement over an one-year loan deal, which will see the player join up with the group in Marbella.

We saw some reports a few weeks ago indicating that Chelsea had agreed a loan bid from Aitor Karanka's Middlesbrough for Kalas and Nathan Aké, after the club had had the services of Kalas, Kenneth Omeruo, Jamal Blackman, and Patrick Bamford from our club last season -- and almost made their way back to the Premier League. Now, it seems to be a definite that Kalas is going back to Middlesbrough for the entire 2015/16 season.

Of the Chelsea trio that spent time on loan under Karanka's guidance last year, most would argue that Bamford was the most successful having scored 17 goals for the club in the Championship while helping them get to a playoff spot and eventually to the finals, where they succumbed to Norwich. But the 22-year-old Kalas also made waves for Middlesbrough, helping them maintain the best defense in the league while arguably being more consistent than Bamford -- although the striker was awarded the league's player of the year prize.

Middlesbrough seems like a nice place to brew our talent, and I hope the deal becomes official soon, not only for Kalas but also for Nathan Aké.
