Chelsea and Borussia Monchengladbach have both confirmed that young defender Andreas Christensen will be spending the next two seasons on loan in the Bundesliga, but there's more Christensen news. In an interview with Danish newspaper Ekstra Bladet, his father and representative Sten Christensen also confirmed that the 19-year-old has signed a new five-year deal with the club.
Christensen is feeling very good about his path at the moment:
Andreas enjoyed three fantastic years at Chelsea until now, and he has a clear feeling that Mourinho and Chelsea think a lot of him, and that they see him as a future player on the Chelsea first team.

Sten is hoping that two years in Germany helps Christensen's development as a footballer, and if he can break into the Gladbach first team he should end up with plenty of experience in both domestic and European play. Neither the loan nor the contract extension are a surprise, but both are welcome news, as is the level-headed way father and son are approaching Christensen's young career.
