As we learned earlier, ex-Newcastle man Alan Pardew's eyeing a Chelsea man. Turns out future Newcastle man Steve McClaren — he's supposedly set to be unveiled as the Magpies new manager any moment now — is also eyeing a Chelsea man. Nice synergy, people!
Newcastle are also looking at Van Ginkel, who spent last season at AC Milan. They were in the running for him when he originally signed for Chelsea.

So that's rather interesting. Provided the local paper has some sort of inside knowledge, of course.
As far as the 22-year-old, last we heard, AC Milan boss Pippo Inzaghi wanted to keep Marco van Ginkel as well after a decent loan spell, but Inzaghi may not be long for the job after a rather terrible season for the former European superpower. Which further muddies the young midfielder's immediate future. Long-term, Chelsea would still have to be the goal, but we didn't have room for him last season after reaching the limit for non-homegrown players in the squad, and that situation hasn't really changed that much. Yet.
