Andreas Christensen has a long way to go before he's ready for the first team, and he knows it. But he's starting to outgrow the academy academy now, and so it's coming close to time to send him away for a while to pupate and see if he returns as a beautiful defensive butterfly. According to an interview in Bold.DK, player and club are on the same page here: Christensen should spend next year on loan and look to get consistent playing time.

That doesn't mean he's worried about his long-term future. The 19-year-old says he still sees himself as a Chelsea player in the long run, and the interview suggests that he'll be signing an extension to his contract (due to run out after next season) that will keep him at the club all the way through 2020. I'm not really sure where he's likely to end up next year -- the Championship would feel about right -- so I guess we'll just have to wait and see where he lands.

And as for his new deal ... how does £30,000 a week sound? ;)
