There are two dangerous words in this report. "Goal understands." Though it is from Duncan Castles, and he's usually pretty good about his Mourinho stuff. (That said, we're still waiting for that contract extension!)
More dangerous words follow, like "rediscover" and "confidence" and "convinced he can return" and "rehabilitated." Many, many, many dangerous words. Words we largely left behind when Fernando Torres was put on a one-way rocketship to the moon Italy and then Spain.
Goal understands Mourinho is driving the deal for Falcao...
Mourinho is aware of the manner in which Van Gaal damaged Falcao's confidence last season and is confident that under his management the striker can be rehabilitated...
Castles does not give any numbers that may be in play. He does claim that Monaco would be ok with either a loan or a permanent transfer. But there's also an interesting bit about players going the other way.
At present, Monaco's negotiations with the Premier League champions are focused on which players Chelsea are prepared to offer to them in exchange for Falcao.
Over the past month, we've seen rumors regarding a loan to the principality for highly talented Charly Musonda. Monaco have also been mentioned as a possible destination for Petr Cech. Could these two end up featuring in a some sort of a two-way deal? We could have plenty of other loan talent to offer to the Ligue 1 side as well, for example a potentially work permit-less Bertrand Traore? One of our many top tier English youngsters? If that's what Monaco are seeking, we could certainly oblige.
One thing is for sure, the Falcao-to-Chelsea story is escalating at an alarming pace. It's about to hit 50mph and there's no turning back after that or we all explode.
