MLS club's CEO confirms interest in former Chelsea international

Could the German Messi be ready to take his talents to the Midwest?

This may come as a shock, but Marko Marin is still on Chelsea's books.  I know!  I was shocked, too.  In fact, the German Messi, a.k.a. the Hazard Plan B has two years left still on the five-year deal we agreed with him just ahead of our most unlikely Champions League triumph.

Marin hasn't played a competitive match for Chelsea in almost two years of course — spending time on loan at Sevilla, Fiorentina, and most recently, Anderlecht — and that trend certainly doesn't look like it'll be changing anytime soon.

There's little reason for Chelsea to keep hanging on to Marin, and his value right now is probably still higher than it would be next summer.  Sporting Kansas City (MLS champions just a couple years ago) have one-time Liverpool failed prospect Krisztián Németh on their roster (he's their leading scorer!), so they're apparently quite familiar in dealing with reclamation projects already.  KC have two designated players already, but are allowed one more if they pay the luxury tax for a third spot.  Do it!
