No, it's not Paul Pogba, though the latest reports around the Juventus man also have Chelsea in a losing position, with Manchester City still poised to bid a world record fee and Barcelona presidential candidate Juan Laporta promising the 22-year-old to his constituents should they elect him on July 18th.

Instead, it's Morgan Schneiderlin, the slightly cheaper, slightly older, slightly less exciting — but still quite excellent! — midfield option.

"Morgan Schneiderlin is set to sign a four-year deal in a £25million move to Manchester United after Arsenal pulled out of the race for the Southampton midfielder."

"Negotiations may take time but unless there is a late inquiry from another club, the Frenchman looks set for Old Trafford."

So you're saying there's a chance of a gazumping?  That's always exciting!  There are also rumors of Bastian Schweinsteiger complicating this situation, as he possibly may be more preferred by Van Gaal.

That said, Chelsea have not been in the picture nearly as much lately as just a few short weeks ago, as Schneiderlin worked to make good on his promise to leave Southampton in search of European football.  By all indications, it looks like he will pursue these ambitions at Manchester United.  Nice move, LvG.
