We seem to be scraping the bottom of the barrel, Steve Sidwell and Jiri Jarosik-style. Fittingly, this one's from The Sun. And it's not even Rob Beasley, so there's an even better chance it's nonsense. And yet, it somehow sounds appropriate for a summer that so far has included shopping for a striker with no knees who hasn't been good for two years and selling our legendary goalkeeper to our cross-town rivals, giving them a crucial piece of the title-challenge puzzle.
...Tottenham midfielder Dembele, who could cost £12million, has emerged as an option for the Special One as he looks to bolster his title-winning squad.

Dembele has not featured consistently for Spurs since Pochettino took over and it's generally expected that he will be leaving White Hart Lane this summer. As we know, name-dropping Chelsea is one of the best ways to advertise your client, if you're an agent.
But let's say we might actually have some interest. Trouble is, while we may be two years late on Falcao, we're even later on this one. And even three years ago we weren't so concerned about missing out on Mousa Dembele, who may be a good player and a cheap option as some some sort of pseudo-Oscar, but surely, we can do better. Even if our stated goal this summer is to improve the depth of the team and the midfield specifically, treading water with middling, mediocre purchases is surely not the way forward.
