It wasn't the best of seasons for Chelsea's loanees, but for Mario Pasalic, the season ended on a good note. The Croatian midfielder had himself an excellent season in La Liga for Elche, and recently found himself named to Croatia's 30-man squad for matches against Italy and Gibraltar. The full squad is as follows:
Goalkeepers: Danijel Subasic (Monaco), Lovre Kalinic (Hajduk Split), Ivan Vargić (Rijeka)
Defenders: Vedran Corluka (Lokomotiv), Tin Jedvaj (Bayer), Marin Leovac (Rijeka), Dejan Lovren (Liverpool), Danijel Pranjic (Panathinaikos), Gordon Schildenfeld (Panathinaikos), Darijo Srna (Shakhtar Donetsk), Ivan Tomečak (Rijeka) Domagoj Vida (Dinamo Kiev), Sime Vrsaljko (Sassuolo)
Midfielders: Milan Badelj (Fiorentina), Marcelo Brozović (Inter Milan), Alen Halilovic (Barcelona), Mato Jajalo (Palermo), Mateo Kovacic (Inter Milan), Mario Pasalic (Chelsea), Ivan Rakitic (Barcelona), Mark Horn ( Split)
Forwards: Nikola Kalinic (Dnipro), Andrej Kramaric (Leicester City), Mario Mandzukic (Atletico), Ivica Olic (Hamburg), Ivan Perisic (Wolfsburg), Marco Piazza (FC), Ante Rebic (Leipzig), Anas Sharbini (Rijeka) Mario Šitum (Spezia)
Also in that group is January target Andrej Kramaric, who wound up helping Leicester City survive as opposed to playing third or fourth choice at Chelsea. Here's hoping Pasalic gets some time on the pitch in those two matches, and shows what he's capable of.
