Chelsea 1-1 Liverpool: React and rate the players

Liverpool started the second half quite well but Chelsea weathered the storm and we were back to the even play we saw in the majority of the first half.  Neither team found a winning goal, but neither team really had anything left to fight for.  Still, for a mostly meaningless game, it did turn out to be a pretty exciting and certainly full-blooded encounter, with a goal for either side from the respective captains.

  • Second week in a row we've had pitch issues.  Last week it was too dry, this week it was too wet.  Especially, in the first half, parts of it looked like a slip-n-slide.  Mourinho apparently wasn't exactly pleased.  Maybe we did it to honor Gerrard?
  • Speaking of Liverpool's legend, nice gesture from the Chelsea fans and manager to applaud him off the pitch for what is Gerrard's final appearance at Stamford Bridge.
  • We were all hoping for a great day from RLC.  He was ... ok.  Not bad, not great.  Ok.  Which is perfectly cromulent and should result in him getting more minutes.
  • Filipe Luis sure does love a slide tackle.
  • Willian has been using the step-over/quick acceleration move more and more often lately, and to great effect to create shots, crosses, and chances.
  • Eden Hazard has seemingly checked out for the season.  Second straight subpar game.  I suppose that's alright.  If he's to take a few games off, these are the perfect ones to take.  He did combine well with Fàbregas several times of course, though seemed to not quite mesh with Rémy.
  • JT's goal makes him the all-time leader in Premier League goals for a defender with 39.
  • 16 straight unbeaten for the CHAMPIONS!
