Chelsea confirm post-season friendly in Sydney

Hello, friends down under. It's happening. It's really happening! For the first time in over 40 years, it's really happening! Well, as long as you can make it to Sydney on Tuesday, June 2.

Chelsea Football Club will travel to Australia to play a friendly match against Sydney FC at the ANZ Stadium on Tuesday 2 June.

Unfortunately, Alessandro del Piero no longer plays for Sydney FC, but apparently they're still "title-chasers" or whatever. I guess it doesn't really matter; who knows how these friendlies are picked and arranged.

"We are delighted to be returning to Australia for the first time in many years and look forward to playing at the iconic ANZ Stadium."

"We can't wait to see our many fans there as we show our appreciation for their long-distance support of the club. We are sure the team will put on an entertaining display as we end what has already been a memorable campaign."

According to Chelsea FC official, tickets will go on sale May 6th. The match will be televised on Chelsea TV for the rest of us not in Australia.

With the timing of this post-season friendly so close to the end of the Premier League season (9 days after our last match) and the official news calling it a season-ender, perhaps we will not making a stop-over in Japan after all.
