Following the weekend's reports from Brazil about young Nathan Allan de Souza (i.e. Nathan) traversing the Atlantic to complete a Chelsea medical, here's Neil Ashton of the Daily Mail confirming the success of said undertaking.
Chelsea will announce the £4.5million signing of Brazilian wonderkid Nathan on Wednesday.
[Nathan] has been in London for talks with the Blues this week and passed a medical in London on Tuesday.
With such specific days attached to the report, I guess we'll find out soon enough just how accurate Ashton's latest claims of insider information are. Even if he's getting a bit of ahead of himself in assessing the 19-year-old.
The staggering potential of Nathan, who can also play as a secondary striker, means he could feature in Jose Mourinho's first team next season.
With zero senior caps and a transfer fee well under £10m, there's very little chance of Nathan getting a work permit at this point and thus featuring for Mourinho straight away. And while he may be described as a "wonderkid" or a "gem" in just about every story, it's probably okay to temper expectations just a little bit. His competition for an eventual spot in the Chelsea first-team is deep and amazingly strong.
