Chelsea's on-loan Patrick Bamford has been forced to withdraw from England's U21 squad for the upcoming international break due to injury. The youngster took to Twitter to reassure fans that it wasn't just for some routine rest, but that he's been dealing with injury for the past several weeks.
Gutted to have had 2 withdraw from the u21s squad, been playing with an injury for past 5 weeks and needed 2 sort it. Also big thanks to 1/2

Gareth Southgate for calling me up, means everything to me to play for my country and he knows I was very disappointed. 2/2

Bamford has been paying awfully well for a player nursing an injury, having now scored 14 of Middlesbrough's 59 total goals this season, as they push for a place in the Premier League. Hopefully it's nothing too serious, as Boro currently sit third, level on points with second, and just a single point behind table-topping Bournemouth. The top two finishers in the Championship will be automatically promoted, while clubs finishing third to sixth will participate in the promotion playoffs.
Boro's next match will be at home against Wigan Athletic, who are in very real danger of relegation. I'd assume Bamford will be ready to start that match.
