Highly promising teenager looks forward to loan, reaffirms long-term Chelsea commitment

Plenty of recent worry about the future of Charly Musonda Jr., not so much in terms of the midfielder becoming an excellent football player and professional at the top level of the game, but rather of doing so at and for Chelsea.

It's universally agreed and expected that Charly Jr will become a tremendous player, and as long as we don't mess it up, he'll get to star for Chelsea for many years to come.  Of course, when it comes to youth development, generally all we do is mess up.  We're still looking for that one academy graduate in almost two decades to follow John Terry's steps into the first team, after all.  That time frame may be a bit shorter depending on how you count Ryan Bertrand's one year as a first-team regular.

But back to Musonda.  A few days ago, rumors started flying about the teenager possibly looking to leave Chelsea, but if his Instagram post may be any indication, that move will only be a loan.  (UPDATE: Post has been removed, but there's no such thing as "deleted" when it comes to the Internet of course.)

Musonda's initial caption for that collage included "continue my progression on loan & develop furthermore towards becoming one of the very best one day in @chelseafc".  He later changed that to take out "on loan" and now changed it again to remove all talk of any future plans.  So he's probably lining up a loan move for January, but he shouldn't be talking about it until it's made official.

Either way, it's heartening to see Charly's reaffirmed commitment to Chelsea; we do have him signed through 2018-19.
