Christian Atsu has barely been used on loan this season, with his only two AFC Bournemouth appearances coming in the Capital One Cup. With that in mind, The Daily Mail are reporting that Chelsea will be recalling the winger once the January window opens.
What the club have planned for the Ghanaian is yet to be determined, with both another loan and a stay at Chelsea as possibilities. If Atsu was to play a single match for the Blues while they're making that decision, however, he'd likely be tied to the club for the remainder of the season, having played official matches for two top-flight sides.
While it's frustrating to see so many loans going poorly this season, it's a bit refreshing to see the Blues moving quickly to put those bad loans to an end, and hopefully find better ones for the players in question. In Atsu's case, I'd prefer that, as reserve wings like Bertrand Traore and Kenedy haven't been able to get minutes with the first team, and I don't see Atsu as being any more likely to see them, either.
