Chelsea started well enough, looking like a fresh new enterprising team for the first 10-15 minutes. Then the reality of the lineup set in, reverting to form that's looking suspiciously like the form we were in before the sacking of Jose Mourinho. Obviously, plenty of time left to get this right, but there's major improvement needed in the second half.
Diego Costa's first goal in six matches should be helpful in that regard. Our play may have been largely uninspiring, but at least we've got set pieces with which to fashion a few goals. Considering that we've had roughly six billion corners, it's only fair that we managed to score from one of them. Terry & Cahill won the initial ball floated in by Willian and Costa was foxy enough to poach it into the back of the net.
Of course, then we gave away a most stupid equalizer, Matic hitting the ball with his hand inside the box. How very Salomon Kalou of him. Watford had threatened a couple times previous to that, but Cahill and Terry seemed to be dealing okay-ish with Ighalo and Deeney.
So, 1-1 at half. Room for improvement. Come on, Chelsea!
