Chelsea vs. Sunderland, Premier League: Half-time report

Clive Rose/Getty Images

Chelsea wasted no time in getting the fans back on their side with an early goal from Ivanovic — his first of the season, surprisingly — followed up by a second ten minutes later from Pedro — his first in the league since his debut.  Chelsea have threatened to add more, but so far, it's only 2.

With Hazard having to miss out with a hip injury, Oscar and Willian have run the show up front, the former especially showing some of his flicky, rabona-y best.  Pedro's been enterprising with his direct running and link-up, and even Diego Costa has shown bits of his old usefulness, at least whenever he's not lying on the ground.  Amazing what we can accomplish when we play as a team.

In midfield and defense, Chelsea have had almost no issues in controlling and containing the visitors.  A complete performance so far, even more so than the Porto match perhaps.  Where has THIS Chelsea been all along?

So, 2-0 to the good, with Hiddink, Drogba, and Abramovich watching on.  Let's add a few more goals.
