Chelsea weighing up move for young Argentinian striker in January -- report

In October, rumours from Argentina popped up linking Boca Juniors striker Jonathan Calleri to a Chelsea move. Now, ESPN FC reports that their sources have claimed that Chelsea is indeed weighing up this option seriously.

According to these sources, Chelsea have been scouting the player and saw him playing against Mexican side Puebla in a friendly this past week. The club have been looking for a "proven scorer" to bring in the next transfer window in hopes that a new striker might lit the spark needed for the team to start banging goals with ease, and they see Calleri as the right target to do so.

With Radamel Falcao's loan seemingly on the brink of being cut short and Diego Costa perhaps looking for a way out of Stamford Bridge in January, it's not much of a surprise that Chelsea would be looking to bring in a new striker in the next transfer window -- although Calleri might be a bit too rough to spearhead our attack from the get-go. But given Calleri's goalscoring record with Boca Juniors this season and the parallels that this move draws to Falcao's transfer to Porto when he was a relatively unknown poacher from River Plate, maybe the Blues are looking to hit upon the same vein of luck with this move.
