Neymar's transfer to Barcelona in 2013 and the ongoing investigation into tax evasion from both parties has been big news in both Brazil and Spain. In one of the steps in the current investigation, clubs which had previously made offers for Neymar were asked by the Spanish courts to provide copies of said bids offered to his former club. But while Real Madrid willingly shared their bid and Bayern Munich claimed they never made an offer for the Brazilian star, two English clubs -- Chelsea and Manchester City -- ignored the request according to Spanish Newspaper AS.
Real Madrid's bid for Neymar back in 2013 was of €45 million according to the documents shared by the club -- €15 million over the €30 million offered by Chelsea back in 2010, according to former Santos president Luis Álvaro de Oliveira.
In the face of both English clubs ignoring the demand to share such details, Spanish judge José de la Mata reinforced his request to them.
Back in 2013, former Barcelona president Sandro Rosell claimed Neymar's transfer cost €57.1 million in total. But according to the investigation, following an inquiry by Brazilian investment group DIS which previously owned 40% of Neymar's transfer rights, the total cost was of €83.3 million, with the €26.2 million in difference avoiding incurring taxes.
It remains to be seen whether Chelsea and Manchester City will share said details, or whether it will make any difference in the case. Still, the last thing we want to see is Chelsea involved in another imbroglio, especially overseas.
