John Swift has been outstanding since joining Brentford on loan about a month ago, and unsurprisingly, the player and club have worked out an extension to the midfielder's loan. The Chelsea academy product will now remain with the Bees until at least January 3, and if he continues to be a regular starter, I'd expect to see that loan extended again as that deadline approaches.
Brentford head coach Lee Carsley sounded delighted with the extension, praising the youngster's work ethic and quality:
"We are delighted that Chelsea have allowed John to stay with us until January. He has been a very good addition to the squad. He has slotted in well to the group."
"We spoke to him about pushing on and standing out with the quality he has. It is important he doesn’t rest on his laurels. His work rate has been outstanding since he has been with us and if he wants to stay in the team he has to maintain that."
With any luck, Swift will continue to play regularly, and help Brentford push toward the top of the table. At the moment, the Bees sit in 12th with 17 points, seven points away from the promotion playoff places.
