Unsurprising news is unsurprising.
After picking up 6 yellow cards on Saturday, Chelsea have triggered an automatic 25,000 fine from The FA. As this is written into the rules and regulations, we knew that it was coming, just as we knew that Nemanja Matic would be suspended for one match after picking up second yellow card as well against West Ham United. Fortunately, the other five, Azpilicueta, Fabregas, Costa, Willian, and Mikel, kept their personal tallies to just one each.
A spokesperson has also apparently confirmed that The FA are looking into the Mourinho and Silvino incidents, with the latter dismissed in the wake of Matic's red and the former sent off as well after a half-time chat with the referees went awry. The Chelsea manager was apparently invited into the referee's room but as one might imagine, he didn't manage to stay calm while discussing the decisions made in the first half. The FA have asked Chelsea to comment on the incidents while awaiting referee Jonathan Moss's report.
And the club may face a fine or at least a warning as well from the Premier League for failing to fulfill the post-match media obligations. This, too, shouldn't be anything new. Apparently, neither Mourinho or, as it usually happens in the League Cup, his assistant Steve Holland will be speaking to the media ahead of tomorrow's match either.
