Chelsea, Manchester United in chase for the 'next Nemanja Matic' -- report

Nemanja Matic has only been back with Chelsea for two years, but he has become a great part of the club's recent successes.  His struggles this season are a major reason for the team's struggles, and perhaps are also a good reason why it's unsurprising that Chelsea are currently looking to sign 19-year-old Serbian midfielder Marko Grujic from Red Star, or the "next Matic" as some journals claim.

While these comparisons are usually made due to players sharing a common physical trait or background, in Grujic's case it looks to be also about his impact for his teams at such an early age. The 6'3'' player was part of Serbia's U20 national team which won the category's World Cup back in May of this year, and has been an integral part of his current club Red Star in the Serbian league.

It looks like Grujic ticks many of the boxes for a Matic clone with his "Hollywood passing", long-range shots and aerial ability. He doesn't seem to be a terribly agile player, and seems to be more of a playmaker than a complete midfielder.  Though he is just 19.

According to the Guardian, Manchester United and PSG are also on the lookout for Grujic, though Chelsea are currently leading the race. Red Star had previously rejected a £1.2 million bid from Hamburg; with three big clubs interested in the player, they are probably expecting far more. However, should he join the Blues in the next transfer window in January, he would most likely still just join our loan brigade, just like fellow Serbian midfielder Danilo Pantic, who's currently at Vitesse.
