After completing the tougher first half of our group stage schedule, Chelsea sit third in Group G. With Maccabi Tel-Aviv clearly a rather shambolic outfit, Europa League qualification is assured!
Oh, joy.
Just one point from our two away matches so far isn't ideal, but we get both of the teams currently above us in the table at home in the second half of the group stage schedule, and despite recent stumbles at the Bridge, one would imagine we'd walk away with maximum points from those. We could probably even afford a draw at Maccabi, in case we want to follow the 2011-12 blueprint of failing to win any of our away matches in the group. After all, the aim is to win it, right, Captain John Terry?
"It is a tough place to come but it is a point won and we move on to the next game which we must win."
"...it is important now we go back to the Bridge and we have to win our home games. Big Champions League nights in front of our home support, under the floodlights, is where we want to be so it is in our hands and we feel comfortable with that."
Right! In our hands. We've got the whole world in our hands.
"We build on the weekend when it was a great feeling to get a win. Last Saturday was a taste of where we want to be, that feeling again. We are a great side and we will get there with the hunger and the ambition that is in the squad."
"You don't win trophies year after year without that hunger in the belly. We are collectively together, the players, the manager and the fans and we will be alright."
We had lost that winning feeling. But now we're bringing back that winning feeling! Never mind this draw. We've got that winning feeling. Oh that winning feeling! It's no longer gone, gone, gone... whoa whoa whoa...
