On today's episode of "The Football Championship is just one division down, yet a million miles away from the Premier League," Todd Kane, during the course of his soon-to-be-officially-confirmed loan to Nottingham Forest, will be paid from the lump sum of money won by a Forest fan in Sky Bet's Transfer Fund sweepstakes.
Congrats to @Official_NFFC on winning the @SkyBet transfer fund. they're under embargo but can use the £ for wages... pic.twitter.com/TUxX3yTVhy

Apparently, last month, Sky Bet drew Forest fan Shaun Lander's name from among ten finalists (chosen randomly from over 70,000 eligible bettors who had risked money with Sky Bet during the course of the previous year), and he won £250,000 of spending money for his favorite club. But since Forest are under a transfer embargo* and cannot actually buy players, they will be using this money to pay loanee wages instead.
I couldn't make this up if I tried.
* Yes, the club under a transfer embargo for, basically, spending too much money were given free money by a betting house.
