Chelsea didn't have any first team participants in this season's Africa Cup of Nations, but several loanees took part in this year's event. One of those players, Bertrand Traore, will be returning to Vitesse Arnhem earlier than he had anticipated.
Traore started on the bench for Burkina Faso on Sunday, in a match that his country needed to win in order to advance in the tournament. He made a second half appearance with his side in need of goals, however, and went close to scoring in the eventual 2-1 loss. Traore started the other two group stage matches.
Bertrand will now return to Vitesse Arnhem, where it's likely he'll be available the next time the Eredivisie club take the pitch. That would be this Sunday, February 1, when Ajax come to town. The 19-year old is currently the third leading goalscorer at Vitesse, with four goals in his 15 league appearances.
