Cesar Azpilicueta signs new five-year contract with Chelsea

Go on, Dave!

We'll just call you Dave,
We'll just call you Dave,
We'll just call you Dave...

Cesar Azpilicueta signed a new five-year contract with Chelsea earlier today, ensuring that the Dave jokes will go on for at least a few more years.

In his short time with the Blues, Azpilicueta has already established himself as a fans' and a manager's favorite.  He's started both of his two seasons at Chelsea as a non-first choice option, but was indispensable by the end of each season.  Now in his third year, and despite the arrival of big-money left back Filipe Luis, he continues to be one of the first names on the team sheet.  At just 25, he's quite a bit younger than either Branislav Ivanovic or the aforementioned Luis, so the improved long-term contract is not only well deserved on his part, but smart business on ours.

Now we just need to finish perfecting our cloning technology so that we can put Mourinho's claim of "11 Azpilicuetas winning the Champions League" to the test.
