Friday Night (High)lights: Cesc Fabregas vs. Schalke 04

Cesc Fabregas finished third in the community player ratings for Wednesday's disappointing draw against Schalke 04, but just like Eden Hazard, he probably would've garnered higher ratings had he and the rest of his Chelsea teammates managed to put away more than just the one chance.

The one goal that we did manage was the ex-Arsenal man's first for the Blues, and he thumped the badge on the shirt to add that little bit of extra trollish glory on top of his accomplishment. For Cesc, this makes 1 goal and 6 assists in the first 5 games -- surely one of the hotter starts to any player's Chelsea career ever.

Questions about how we can adjust the team and especially the midfield to compensate for some of Cesc's shortcomings remain of course. Dropping him for the toughest games like the one coming up this weekend and battening down the hatches may be the easiest, simplest solution, but with this much output at the attacking end, I'm not sure that option is all that feasible at this point. I guess we'll see what the Boss decides on Sunday at the Etihad.
