Jamal Blackman joins Championship side Middlesborough on loan until January

As first rumored, oh roughly 30-45 minutes ago, Chelsea fourth-choice and England U19 goalkeeper Jamal Blackman has joined Aitor Karanka's Middlesborough on loan.  He will be Boro's third Chelsea loanee; Karanka clearly making full use of his connections with Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho.

Unlike Kenneth Omeruo, Blackman's loan is only for four months and right now the plan is that he will return to Chelsea in the middle of January.  For whatever reason, his loan extends until January 17th, while fellow Chelsea short-term loanee Patrick Bamford's end date is January 1st.

Blackman most likely isn't going to be a first-choice goalkeeper at Boro, with ex-Real Madrid trainee Tomás Mejías having started all five games so far.  Mejías was on loan last season and his transfer was made permanent earlier this summer.  Still, hopefully the Chelsea boy will gain some valuable experience.

Good luck, Jamal!
