This is a new one: I don't think we've ever had one game thread for two matches in a day before. But hey, football is a strange and magical beast, and we must be ready for everything. Chelsea play Fenerbahce for a half, then Besiktas for a half. Here is the team they'll be using, which they didn't bother telling us until right before kickoff.
Chelsea starting lineup (4-2-3-1): Petr Cech; Cesar Azpilicueta, John Terry, Gary Cahill, Branislav Ivanovic; Nemanja Matic, Cesc Fabregas; Eden Hazard, Oscar, Andre Schurrle; Diego Costa.
It's nice to be able to welcome back to Schurrle and Oscar, and Hazard's getting his first start of pre-season. This looks a lot like our expected lineup against Burnley, which is interesting. Today we have a good chance to bounce back from the unfortunate loss against Werder Bremen. It's also a good opportunity to remind ourselves that pre-season is remarkably silly. Chelsea vs. Besiktas and Fenerbahce? Sure, whatever. Ten days until real football!
PS: Apparently Thibaut Courtois is injured. But not too badly.
