Mourinho confirms Chelsea are in for Rémy, dismisses questions over health

Matthias Hangst

Chelsea FC are chasing Loïc Rémy after loaning Fernando Torres to AC Milan. If you didn't believe that after Harry Redknapp, who currently manages him, told us so this morning, here's more evidence from Jose Mourinho, who was speaking in the aftermath of the Blues' brain-melting 6-3 win at Goodison Park.

I know that we’re trying since yesterday to get Loic Remy, since we knew Fernando was leaving. Now it’s time to make some calls and have news. We have a fantastic doctor and I trust him completely. They will identify any problem.

Which, fine. Rémy is a perfectly cromulent option at centre forward, and since we have a great first choice player in Diego Costa, who is quickly working his way into our collective hearts as he upsets virtually everyone else. The only real question is Rémy's health. Didn't he fail a medical with Liverpool earlier in the summer? Mourinho says not to worry.

He has lots of people working with him in different areas, and for sure we’ll try to identify clearly what the situation is. The information we have from specialists in different areas is that he does not have a problem to play football.

Cool. Hopefully all is well on the health front; if so it doesn't seem like there's any reason to be worried about being caught short on deadline day.
