Like all those inconsiderate (to use a mild term) drivers on roads around the world, Reading are looking to cut in front of all the other queueing cars at the red light or the on/off-ramp or whatever other traffic situation you associate with this flimsy analogy. In any case, the point is that Reading are in the race for the budding star's loan signature.
Reading are hoping to win the race to sign Chelsea forward Patrick Bamford on loan. #readingfc #cfc #boro

As our friends at The Tilehurst End point out, the local Reading beat reporter is less optimistic on his club's chances, but he does confirm the interest.
Bamford I'm not certain on. I believe enquiries have been made, but not sure if #readingfc are 'leading the race'.

After finishing just a point off the playoff places last season, Reading are off to a fairly bad start this season. And while Boro manager Aitor Karanka keeps wooing Bamford, Patrick may be better served at Reading whose strike force is even weaker than Boro's. Perhaps tellingly, Bamford was a guest at City Ground on Saturday to watch Nottingham Forest take on Reading.
