McEachran confirms Eredivisie move

Christopher Lee

Four years ago, Josh McEachran was a bit of a sensation. Good enough in midfield that Carlo Ancelotti could drop him into a Champions League game and have him more or less run the show, McEachran looked awfully like the future of Chelsea and, if we were feeling hyperbolic (which we were), England.

But that excitement has long-since gone. McEachran has never again looked quite like he did against Marseilles, and he's struggled to really stand out even on loans away from Stamford Bridge. There's still plenty of time, of course (don't forget that he's just 21), so Chelsea will be giving him another chance to stand out. And we have just the place for him:

McEachran has been stealthily linked to Vitesse for some time now, so it's not difficult to connect the dots on this one. He's almost certainly heading to join up with the likes of Bertrand Traore at Chelsea B, and the Eredivisie seems to me to be as good a place as any for him to re-find his feet and focus on his development. Good luck, Josh!
