Despite suffering an ankle injury during Sunday's friendly against Ferencvaros, Didier Drogba could be fit for next week's curtain-raiser against Burnley at Turf Moor. Or so says the manager, at any rate:
He’s good. I don’t want to say ready for Monday but with the quality of our medical department and the mentality he has, I’m not saying it’s impossible for him to recover for Monday.

The big striker didn't feature against Real Sociedad, but seemed to be walking just fine when he was re-introduced to the Stamford Bridge crowd, and it looks as though the reports that he might be missing significant time were complete nonsense. At his age, of course, I wouldn't rush him back from any injury -- the last thing we'd want is for him to re-aggravate it -- so a week might be too quick, but we'll be getting Drogba back sooner rather than later. Fernando Torres is perfectly competent to back up Diego Costa for the trip to Burnley.
