Chelsea will be sending quite a few promising youngsters on loan in the next four weeks, and today they found a home for one of the best players from last year's U21 side. Midfielder John Swift seemed to take a big leap in his development during the 2013/14 campaign, and that success has led to a loan to Rotherham United FC.
Swift will be spending the entire season at Rotherham, as opposed to a six-month loan. The club earned promotion to the Championship in the spring, so it should be a challenging first loan spell for the academy product.
Hopefully, Swift picks up right where he left off with the U21 side at Rotherham. The early move should leave him plenty of time to acclimate ahead of the season kick-off, which will hopefully allow him to be fully settled and playing well from the get-go. Best of luck, John...we'll be keeping tabs on your play.
