For most of the first half, it looked like Sacramento Republic FC might pull of the friendly upset and beat the visiting Scottish heavyweights. Alas, just as Sac took the lead with the final kick of the first half, Gers took the lead with the final kick of the second half. And there was no coming back from that, though truthfully, Sacramento were painfully second best in the second 45. Hardly a kick of the ball, really.
I enjoyed these lines from the Rangers official match report:
"There was a carnival atmosphere in the 8,000-capacity ground prior to kick off which was helped by the noise coming from a huge funfair positioned directly behind one of the goals.
With a monorail also circling the ground behind the stands it made for a bizarre yet memorable setting for Rangers' second game of their North American."
Welcome to California, baby.

I had battered, deep-fried cheese wrapped in bacon and chocolate dipped cheesecake tonight. I passed on the mac-n-cheese stuffed bacon burger and the Krispy Kreme burger. And the deep fried Reese's Peanut Butter Cups and Oreos. For now. There's another game coming up on Monday against WBA.
