Chelsea announce Real Sociedad friendly

Mike Hewitt

Chelsea have not hosted a preseason friendly in almost a decade now -- their last dates back to Jose Mourinho's first spell in charge of the club -- but that will change on August 12th, when the Blues will welcome Real Sociedad to Stamford Bridge. With the Premier League season kicking off on Saturday the 16th against Burnley, this will obviously be the last friendly we play this summer, and it's a good chance for the locals to get a look at the new signings.

Happily, the club is keeping tickets fairly cheap as well. The official site lists prices as £20 and £15 (upper and lower) for adults and there's a significant discount for juniors and seniors on top of that. While it's difficult to imagine the first-choice players getting a full 90 minutes here, it's still a very nice opportunity to go see Chelsea's squad in action before the real matches begin.
