I think it's remarkable just how confused all commentators (TV, radio, elsewhere) were by this decision.  No, the ball did not cross the line on the initial shot.  Yes, it bounced in off the goalkeeper.  Yes, it's an own goal.  No, the system didn't fail.  In fact, the system worked like a boss.  Deal with it.
